They had no insight into what was actually happening on the machine

A manufacturer had no real visibility into actual machine runtime or downtime. Without that data, decisions about production, maintenance, and scheduling were based on estimates rather than what was really going on. Off-the-shelf monitoring platforms were expensive and more than the application warranted — and a full SCADA system would have introduced unnecessary complexity and liability. What they needed was a way to capture machine data and eventually feed it into their existing ERP, not layer an entirely new system on top of it.

The customer was surprised at how quickly and efficiently we could connect, display, and use the machine data.

CSI Summit's data ingestion layer — capturing value now, feeding the ERP next

Data Ingestion First

We used CSI Summit's data ingestion layer to connect to a single machine and start capturing runtime and downtime data. Rather than building out an entire monitoring infrastructure, this gave the customer immediate visibility through custom local dashboards — with the data already structured for what comes next.

Custom Dashboard Views

We configured local dashboard views tailored to the customer's workflows — covering production, maintenance, and diagnostics. Each view shows the team using it exactly the data relevant to their role, giving them insight they didn't have before.

Designed for ERP Integration

The planned next step is to push the ingested machine data directly into the customer's ERP system, using their existing infrastructure rather than adding a new platform on top of it. Data exports to CSV are still available in two clicks in the meantime.

Fast to Deploy

CSI Summit's architecture let us go from kickoff to live data on the floor quickly. The customer was surprised at how fast we could connect, display, and start using the machine data.

Why this approach works

Visibility They Didn't Have

Actual machine runtime and downtime data — replacing estimates and guesswork with real numbers for the first time.

Fast to Deploy

From kickoff to live data on the floor — quickly. No drawn-out integration timelines or months of configuration before seeing results.

Works With What They Have

Designed to feed data into the existing ERP — not add another system to manage. The data ingestion layer bridges the gap without replacing infrastructure.

Low-Risk Starting Point

A single-machine pilot proves the value before expanding. CSV exports keep the data accessible in the meantime.

Clear Path Forward

Additional machines and direct ERP integration are planned next — with no platform change required.
